5 Events to participate in Kimchi season
As the Kimchi Day on November 22 arrived last week, it is an honor to celebrate the Korean cultural and culinary significance of kimchi worldwide. The season of Kimchi, which begins with Chuseok and continues through the traditional Kimjang period, is a testament to the communal spirit and heritage that kimchi represents. And if you are just like us, crazy Kimchi fans, we prepared for you our top 5 events in Europe to participate in and to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Korean cuisine during the Autumn Kimchi period.
1. Korean Culture Festival in Amsterdam
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has various markets and events worth visiting. At the early beginning of the Kimchi season, in September, one of the exciting places to visit is the Korean Culture Festival, organized by the South Korean Embassy in the Netherlands. During the event, visitors could experience the taste of Korea with samples of kimchi, tteokbokki, gochujang sauce, and a lot more. Daesang Europe participated in the event this year, arranging a delicious tasting of Jongga and O’Food brands’ products. Besides the tastings, guests were invited to participate in a special giveaway featuring Daesang prizes, such as eco-bags, keychains, and our flavorful canned kimchi. The festival was a fantastic way to introduce a piece of Korean culture to locals and tourists alike and a beautiful start to the Kimchi Season.

2. Chuseok Celebration from each country
Chuseok is one of the biggest holidays in South Korea, celebrated not only in its homeland but also worldwide by many Koreans. Korean cultural organizations and embassies organize events during Chuseok to celebrate it among other nations and teach others about Korean holidays and traditions.
This year, Daesang Europe was invited to two such events arranged by the South Korean Embassies in Belgium and Spain. At these events, we offered a selection of sweet and savory kimchi spreads alongside a range of our original Jongga kimchi.
Embassy events are the best way to enjoy the most authentic flavors of Korea and take a glimpse into the rich heritage surrounding Chuseok.
3. Kimchi Blast in Paris – A Culinary Highlight
Another huge and fun event to visit during the Kimchi Season is the annual Kimchi Blast, organized by Jongga. It is a must-visit if you are a big kimchi enthusiast!
The Kimchi Blast Festival is held in the heart of Paris, France, in October. During the festival, you can enjoy kimchi tastings, K-pop performances, and take part in various fun activities. However, the most promising part of the Kimchi Blast is community kimchi making, which allows guests to experience Korean traditions first-hand and bond with friends and other visitors through the fun pastime.
4. SIAL 2024 in Paris – Showcasing Jongga and O’Food
If you are a big foodie like us, SIAL is the best exhibition for you. SIAL is one of the world’s largest food and innovation exhibitions, held in Paris in October. At SIAL, you can taste a variety of flavors from around the world and learn more about food companies based in Europe.
With more than 7,000 exhibitors this year, Daesang was one of the Korean companies that participated. We proudly presented our beloved brands, Jongga and O’Food, at a specially designed Daesang booth. Visitors sampled an impressive variety of products, including kimchi spreads, crunchy and ambient kimchi, ssamjang, gochujang sauces, and even special kimchi canapés and dakgalbi prepared by Daesang chef from South Korea. This successful event brought us closer to current customers, introduced us to potential collaborators, and allowed us to celebrate Korean cuisine on a global stage.
